Status: Sold out!

It's been a year and a half since our last Rog Mahal show and we're starting up the series again with an exceptional evening featuring the John Jorgenson Quintet.

We were fortunate to have John play here twice in 2004 and if you were in attendance, your standing ovations were a fitting tribute to the extraordinary talents of this master of the gypsy jazz guitar style. John has grown to be quite a bit more popular since then so we're honored that he consented to squeeze us into his current tour.

For those not familiar with him, here's a brief summary. His first life was as a founder of the mid-80s Desert Rose Band, which produced five #1 hits and and earned John the Academy of Country Music's Guitarist of the Year award three times. His second life was as one of the most in-demand rock/pop guitarists of the 80's and 90's, touring or recording with Elton John, Billy Joel, Bonnie Raitt, Sting, Barbra Streisand, Luciano Pavarotti and many more.

But his third and current life is his true passion--a master of the gypsy jazz style of guitar popularized by 1930s French guitarist Django Reinhardt. To quote Flatpicking Magazine:

The musicianship, of course, is simply amazing. Jorgenson...has become not just America's finest proponent of this exceptionally demanding flatpicking guitar style, but one of the world's truly great artists in the Gypsy-jazz genre. Again and again, he executes seemingly impossible licks and runs not just without a flaw, but with the passion and grace only the most talented and devoted musicians ever achieve.

Click here to hear (and see) John in performance. Or, go out and rent the 2004 film Head In The Clouds, where you'll see John playing the part of Django Reinhardt, performing for a dancing Charlise Theron and Penelope Cruz.

Oh--by the way, John's also a master of the clarinet and mandolin, a superb composer, and puts on quite an entertaining show. This isn't just some guitar-geek event but rather a virtuosic and fun evening that I'm sure will linger in your memory for a long time to come.

Cost: $30. Click here to purchase tickets by credit card. At the end of the purchase process, please printout the Invoice screen and bring it with you to the show as your ticket. If you have any problems, please feel free to contact us (see below).
Note: We're using the Roger Linn Design online store for ticket purchases, so don't worry if the purchase screens and your email receipt show Roger Linn Design instead of Rog Mahal, and ignore any messages about shipping because there's nothing to ship.

Note: $30 is higher than in the past because we're reducing the audience size in order to make it less crowded without reducing the income for the artists. Also, while we make no profit on these shows, we need to take a little of the ticket price in order to help offset our cost for the wine and desserts that we provide free. On that subject, if you'd care to contribute a bottle of wine, beverage or perhaps a dessert, it would be very helpful. If so, please let us know what you plan to bring .
